Hi! 1 st of all: excuse my bad english.
2nd: I have the same machine, under "Lady Tricot" name, and i´m trying to use it (i have no idea about kniting in any way). I have a basic manual, if you are still looking for it i can scan it and e-mail to you.
Whit this manual and a lot of patience i managed to set up the machine and knit some demos (punchcard patterns included).

Possibly ebay or there are companies that specialize in restoring store mannequins that might be able to locate a replacement set. If I knew who the manufacturer was, I might be able to go directly to them if they're still in business, although that would probably be the most expensive route.

Sometimes I find that knitting goes slowly as well, especially when it's something that I have to hunker down and concentrate on. I find that once I get the hang of what I'm doing and don't have to expend all of my attention on it, things tend to go faster. It also helps if I do other things at the same time (watch tv, listen to music, poke my husband with my needles, etc.).

For me, knitting always seems to move so slowly. Even when I'm concentrating on the project. I wish there was a way to make it seem progress faster.
It's a gorgeous pattern. it's going to be a lovely scarf

It's a light DK. You're probably right about it making a nice cowl. I'll have to look around and see if I can find a pattern I like that doesn't require more yardage than I have.

What weight yarn is it? The photo makes it look like worsted or DK.

If it's either of those, 156 yards is more than enough to make a lovely cowl, especially if you use some kind of simple lace pattern. That color especially would be great for fall and even into winter, being close to a neutral, but not dull.
